Morrison Aberdeen Angus
The Morrison Aberdeen Angus herd was established 2017 with the purchase of a small number of cows. In 2018 we were able to purchase a number of cows from the Bridgefoot herd when they dispersed. Since then we have expanded our herd through Embryo transfer and the use of AI. In spring 2024 we purchased a draft of cows from the Fordel to further expand the herd and bring in some interesting cow families.
The herd is run on a purely commercial basis, our objective is to breed resilient cows can withstand the rigours of our environment and raise a quality calf in an efficient manner year in, year out. We calve heifers at 2yo, we don’t creep feed, cows are exposed to the bull for only 2 cycles and they have to calve outside unassisted. We are passionate about breeding stock that are fit for the 21st century - where labour, one of the most costly inputs, is expensive and all other inputs are rising. Our stock are bred to make the most of your cheapest resource - grass. Eating quality is also at the forefront of our minds.
